From Vietnam’s Streets to Timeless Craft Inspired by one of Vietnam’s most iconic everyday objects — the humble plastic stool found on every street corner, café terrace, and local food stall — this piece transforms the ordinary into something designed to last. We began by preserving the familiar proportions and silhouette that make this object instantly recognizable, then reimagined it as a refined desk object through sketching, prototyping, and material exploration. To celebrate Vietnam’s rich craft heritage, each piece is handcrafted by local artisans using traditional metalworking techniques: cutting, carving, perforating, shaping, and assembling every element entirely by hand. Every mark left by the making process becomes part of its identity. More than a functional object, this project is a tribute to Vietnam’s street culture, its spirit of everyday gathering, and the artisans whose hands transform simple ideas into timeless pieces of craft.
